Word Tree: Updates

working on the following updates for the next update to Word Tree, which will be available in a few weeks (approval process is slow)

1. Improved performance
2. Quit button (for those times you are stuck and don't want to wait out the clock)
3. Bug fixes
4. Show words on game over. When the game is over, the game will display words that would have completed the tree for that level

Future updates:
In app purchase to remove ads, improved graphics, "rewards" for completing a level, foreign language support

After 26 days awaiting approval, Apple rejected Quick 20 because the keywords I choose referenced another app. Rather than just remove that keyword and approve it, they rejected it so now I have to remove the keyword and submit the same app for approval again without any changes. Hopefully its not another 26 days

I submitted an update for Vocabular 1.4. The only game change is you can now touch the middle of the screen to make a letter go to the bottom, something that has been requested by a few users. I also added some new buttons.

Quick 20

I submitted a new game to the app store last night, Quick 20. It is very similar to Vocabular, but instead of letters it uses numbers. You have to line up the numbers of the same color to make a total of 20. The more numbers you use the more points you get. The numbers will be 1 of 3 colors, so only numbers of the same color side by side will count towards the total. I'll post screen shots later, and the link once it is available.

I resubmitted my 1.3 update. The game will now be paused on interruption (incoming phone call for example) and saved on exit. The last saved game will be loaded when you press 'Start Game'

Vocabular 1.1 was approved and is now available. It is everything 1.0 should have been. Much better performance, Pause/Resume buttons, vertical spelling, bigger dictionary. Vocabular Lite 1.2 (same feature set as Vocabular 1.1 but with limitations) was also approved and is in the app store. Get the update now

Latest changes in next update

Vertical spelling. Now you can spell words vertically as well as horizontally.

Speed. The game will start slower now and get progressively faster as you reach certain scores.

Performance. Huge performance updates. I test on a first generation ipod touch and there was no lag.

Words. As stated previously, over 15,000 more words are recognized.

Pause/Resume. This already exits in Vocabular Lite, but it will be in Vocabular for the first time in 1.1.

I think that sums up the update, should be available soon.

So a version number got skipped for the Lite version, so it is 1 subversion ahead. Vocabular Lite 1.2 will have the same updates/bug fixes as Vocabular 1.1, of course the Lite version has ads on it and there is a score limit

Crash

Fixed a crash related to the Pause button, just submitted the update tonight. Until the next update comes out don't press Pause when the game is already paused.

As I wait for the 1.1 update to be approved I have made a few performance improvments and added over 15,000 words to the dictionary. If 1.1 is approved expect these updates in 1.2, however if they reject my 1.1 update I will add these improvements to it.

Just realized I haven't posted this, here is the description from the app store.

Vocabular is a word game that is similar to Tetris and Scrabble. A letter will drop down and you can move the letter by touching the side of the screen you want it to move to. Spell words horizontally to earn points.

For 1.1 that I submitted today I fixed the bug where a space would be ignored and then the wrong letters would be removed from the screen. Also made some performance improvements, removed the few lowercase letters that slipped in, and added a pause and resume button. Look for the 1.1 update to be available soon

Known bugs

There is a known bug where a space between letters is ignored, and some known performance issues. Fixes for these issues were submitted for review today along with the new background posted below. An update should be out soon

Here is the latest screen shot of Vocabular. In the first release that I submitted for approval, the arrows aren't there and the text 'Next' and 'Score' aren't there. After showing it to a few people they weren't sure how the game worked, so this should help. Tap the left side of the screen (where the left arrow is or above or below it) to move a letter to the left. Same with the right side to move to the right. In the upper left corner you will see the next letter that you will get, in the upper right is your score. Simple.
